Tarot Spells
Breaking Free
This spell is used to help break free of a situation in which you feel trapped. It will only require two cards from the deck; the Eight of Swords and one other. The second card will depend on the desired outcome. The Eight of Swords usually shows a person, blindfolded and surrounded by the eight swords. This represents you in the current situation. The other card is the important one.If the problem is financial, one of the pentacles cards can represent a positive outcome. For example, the Nine Of Pentacles which can mean self-reliance would be the perfect focus for someone wanting to move away from home or start their own business. Wands work well for creative issues; swords for conflict or intellectual issues; and cups for emotional or personal problems. For major, life-altering issues one of the major arcana would work best. Cards like Strength and Justice represent obvious desires. Cards like Death (which can simply mean huge changes) are a little more subtle, but just as effective.
Once you've chosen your two cards, visualize the current situation and how it makes you feel trapped, like the image on the card. Then look to the images on the second card, focus your positive energy, and see yourself breaking free, feeling the joy of no longer being trapped. As with all spells, you still have to do your part. No sitting back and waiting for the spell to break down that wall of swords. It is there to help, not do it for you.
